About  the Course

The M.B.A. course is a full time 2 years (4 semester) course approved by the University of Mysore. The timetable for courses is based on a semester system with the first semester beginning in July/Aug and the second semester in Jan/ Feb. A midyear break of at least two weeks separates the two.

About MBA Department

 The MBA Department was started in 2004. The department emphasises on student centric activities. The MBA Department follows the case method of imparting professional education backed by classroom lectures, industry visits, extensive field research, seminars, group exercises, role plays and discussions. Students are exposed to a large number of analytical and decision making perspectives. Most courses demand active student participation and students are expected to play an effective role in the seminars, assignments and group discussions.

Students attend four or five lectures or class room sessions from Monday to Saturday. The subjects are taught as mix of lectures, tutorials or seminars and always require additional individual work outside class hours, often in workshops, laboratories or libraries. Students need to be self-directed and highly motivated in their study skills.

Results

The Department of MBA has maintained cent percent results since inception. The department is proud to have 2 Ranks in 2008 - 09 and 6 Ranks in 2009 -10.

Eligibility Criteria
Students aspiring for MBA course should have passed 3 year bachelors / masters degree of any recognized university in any discipline like commerce, management, arts, science, social science, engineering/technology or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and 45% for SC/ST. Students should appear for competitive examinations conducted by PG CET/KMAT. Seats will be allotted on the basis of merit and categories by VTU Placement cell for PG CET candidates. The management quota will be allotted by the institute for KMAT candidates.

Fees Structure
The fees structure of the two year MBA course is as prescribed by the government from time to time.

Placement
The MBA Department has separate placement cell headed by Professor Khadri who has a good rapport with industries in Mysore and Bangalore. The department conducts programs on spoken and written english, personality development programme, leadership skills, group discussions, preparation of resumes, techniques to face interviews and more to face the interviews competently

The placement record has been 100% in past two years and the past students are drawing a salary of 15-20 K per month depending upon their competence. Passed students have been placed in the following companies.

The Academic system operates in the following ways:

  • Students are encouraged to participate actively in class. This may require the answering of questions, putting forward of original ideas, or presenting a class paper.

  • The relationship between students and staff is informal and relaxed. Students should not hesitate to ask staff for assistance, particularly when the students has not understood something that has been taught.

  • The use of other thoughts and writings is encouraged and the students are expected to acknowledge the original sources, and use them as a basis to develop their own ideas.

  • Most teachers prefer that essays and assignments be hand written, rather than typed. Students are encouraged to use the computers on campus for voluminous writing and Major Projects.

  • The internal assessment includes assignments, tutorials and practical work. In each unit the method of assessment is set out at the beginning of the semester.

  • Lecturers and tutors are usually willing to discuss in class or individually, any problem students may have in understanding lectures and discussions, writing assignments or preparing for examinations.

Growing Outward

All activity at MBA Department is oriented towards creating opportunities for students to discover, explore and learn not just within the confines of their curriculum  but extending outside the boundaries of the classroom and academics. Students are encouraged to expand their horizons, enrich their thinking and grow outward.

Academic Orientation
A strong academic orientation lays the foundation for lifelong learning, ingraining in the youth the psyche of the eternal student. The orientation program enables the students to familiarize themselves with the teaching methodology and aids used in the classroom, use of in campus facilities and services, library and lab use and other services. The programmes also focus on academic and personal counseling, equipping students with necessary study skills required for academic setting. We believe that it is vital for a student to have a strong focus on the subjects of study at any given time.

Project Work and Presentation
Project Work and presentations expose students to real world situations which require students to take the initiative, research facts, work on time bound programmes and develop communication and presentation skills which play an important role in shaping the future of the students.

Guest Lectures
Eminent personalities from different industries and walks of life are invited to visit the campus and share their experiences and give students a global outlook through interactive programmes.

Internship and Industry Exposures
MBA Department strongly encourages its students to broaden their outlook and experience by participating in live projects, seminars, Industry internship, study trips and Industry visits.
